Orinda Aquatics hosted a Mutual of Omaha BREAKOUT! Swim Clinic today. Not only did the 100 swimmers in attendance have an opportunity to race US Olympians Jason Lezak and Kim Vandenberg but they worked on technique, understanding how the mind, body and heart affect swimming and had inspirational talks. They also took photos with the Olympians, got autographs and got to hold their Olympic medals. It was a great opportunity for all.
Lezak is a four time Olympic Gold Medalist and world record holder in the 400 FR and 400 MR and former American record holder in the 100 M free. He is probably most well known for his infamous anchor leg of the 2008 Olympic Gold medal and record breaking 400 FR race where he overtook the French swimmer splitting 46.06, the fastest in history.
Kim Vandenberg, raised in Moraga, Ca and a past Orinda Aquatics swimmer before her collegiate career at UCLA, attended the 2008 Olympics where she earned a silver medal in the 800 FR. She specializes in free and butterfly and is currently training and residing in New York.
DREAM IT, BELIEVE IT, BREAKOUT!
