May Madness

Greetings SCAT Families

Wondering if you feel like May is just flying by!

Typically we like to throw in a couple of fun things for the kids this month as they wind down another school year!  Our meet schedule is a bit lighter and distractions are many so we will try to keep it light on our end also.

1.        We have scheduled a team Lake Swim for Wednesday, May 22nd!  This will be available to Silver, Gold and Senior team members.  We will meet at Lake Peachtree @ 5:15pm and the swim will depart at 5:30 pm.  We will have two distances for the swimmers to choose from.  Silver swimmers will be allowed to wear fins if they would be more comfortable.  As always, this practice is NOT required, but we will not have pool practice scheduled for this evening.  We will have coaches on kayaks and volunteers place at both sides of start and finish.  We did this twice last year and had a great time.  We even had a few parents jump in and swim with the kids!

2.       Our Silver team is very close to earning their “Ice Cream Social”   We have had a “star” reward program for the kids that have encouraged all kinds of great practice and meet swimming.  The swimmers have been rewarded for practices sets, outstanding meet performances,  good lane etiquette, good sportsmanship, good attendance and timeliness and overall good “team” behavior.  It hasn’t taken long to “Fill the Cap” with Stars and we might earn our social by the end of this week if all goes well!  Good luck Silver swimmers and a big thanks again to Julie Pruett for creating this fantastic reward and recognition system.  It’s a huge hit!

3.       We look forward to hosting our annual “Bring a friend to SCAT” evening!  We just want the weather to warm up a bit so we don’t scare your friends away.  This is open to our Bronze, Silver and Gold team members.  Our tentative date is Wednesday, May 15th.  Details will follow

4.       Each of the coaches will be confirming what your plans are for your swimmer over the summer.  If you have any questions which meets are appropriate for your swimmer – don’t hesitate to email or talk to the coaches on deck!  We are here to help
