Tenth Annual Wavemaker Invitational – April 26-28th, 2013
On April 26-28th the Hollyburn Hurricanes had seven team members compete at the Tenth Annual Wavemaker Invitational in Victoria. The athletes who attended this travel meet had an exceptional experience and made some great improvements.
Travel meets are a wonderful opportunity to:
- Spend time in another city, which the swimmers love
- Spend more time with their teammates
- To see different competitors
The team included Morgan and Quincy Bender, Jade and Sidney Clement, Thomas Dignum, Abbey Heard and Gabe Ross-Wilson.
Five of the swimmers made finals:
Morgan Bender – 3rd in the 200 backstorke, 5th in the 100 freestyle and 7th in the 50 butterfly
Jade Clement – 7th in the 200 breaststroke
Thomas Dignum – 5th in the 200 backstroke, 6th in the 50 breaststroke and 50 backstroke, 7th in the 50 butterfly and 8th in the 50 freestyle
Abbey Heard – 5th in the 100 backstroke
Gabe Ross-Wilson – 3rd in the 50 breaststroke, 4th in the 200 breaststroke and 7th in the 100 breaststroke
Three swimmers achieved new Provincial A times:
Morgan Bender – 50, 100 and 400 freestyle
Abbey Heard – 100 backstroke
Gabe Ross-Wilson – 200 breaststroke
