Dear VJO Swimmers and Parents,
Pool Party Re-cap
We hope everyone had a great time at our Annual Pool Party and
Alumni Reunion over the weekend. We had a much bigger Alumni
turn out this year and we thank everyone for getting the word
out. The potluck food was fantastic as usual and the family
relays and Alumni Meet were a big hit this year. We plan to
hold both the family relays and alumni meet again next year.
Alumni make sure you keep up your swimming!
Napa Valley Long Course Meet Re-Cap
Great job at the Napa Meet! We had many amazing swims
and many new time standards achieved over the weekend. We had
24 new “B” times achieved, 6 new “A” times
achieved, 3 new JO times achieved, 3 new Far Western times
achieves, and 1 new “PRT” (Pacific Recognizable Time)
achieved. Maya Hunter (10) achieved a new
Long Course Junior Olympic time in the 100 fly with a 1:36.74 and a
new Long Course Far Western time in the 50 Free with a 34.33.
Maya will now be joining us for the first time at the Summer Far
Western Championships at the end on July. Congratulations
Maya! Abigail Argeta (10) achieved a new long
course JO time in the 200 IM with a 3:11.71, a new long course JO
time in the 200 Free with a 2:49.05, a first time ever long course
Far Western time in the 50 breast with a 44.68, and a first time
ever long course FW and PRT time in the 100 breast with a 1:35.12.
Outstanding job Abby! Great job VJO swimmers!
NEW TEAM RECORD SET!
We are excited to announce Alyssa Powell
shattered our VJO women’s 13-14 Long Course 100 Fly team
record 2 weeks ago at the Summer Sanders Meet in Roseville, CA.
Alyssa went a 1:08.02. This was a 25 year old record
originally set by Kristi Greene in 1988. Way to go
Alyssa!!!

SWIM-A-THON - Tomorrow Tuesday June
25th!!!
DATE: Tomorrow, June 25th,
2013
TIME: 5 - 7 PM
SWIMMERS: Arrive
no later than 4:30 to check-in. Go to the
check in area and get your number, find your
coach who will assign you a LAP COUNTER and lane. Do not
forget goggles, fins and kick boards.
PARENTS: Thank you for
signing up to count laps! If you have not signed up - it is not too
late! Arrive at the pool by 4:30.
Each coach will assign you five
swimmers (at least five swimmers/lap counter).
You will need to count the swimmers' laps, documnet
them, and track time in and time out of
pool (write these times next to your swimmers name). First
place trophies will go to the first male/female swimmer/age
group with fastest times! SO YOUR ACCUARACY is important
:)
POT
LUCK: Do not forget to bring
a dish to share! Potluck will follow swim-a-thon. We will have
tables set up for
food. REMEMBER: This is
a FAMILY event...we want you pool
side! Find an area to work and enjoy spending the
evening with a great group of caring families!
DONATIONS: We will be
collecting donations on this day. Dora (our VJO treasurer will be
here to collect evelopes). Make sure you have
your envelopes clearly marked with
swimmers FIRST/LAST name. Also include
a PHONE NUMBER in case we have
questions. All donations are due by: JULY
25th.That is our final cut off date for donations.
Reminder - this
years theme is Ducky Luau! Dress
accordingly!

Shark Pride Day Dual Meet
This month for our Shark Pride Day
we will be holding a Dual Meet from 5-7pm on Thursday June
27th. Warm-ups will start at 5:00pm and the meet
will run from 5:30-7:00pm. Swimmers can enter up to 4 events.
8 & Unders will swim 25’s, 9-10 and 11-12 will swim
50’s and 13 & overs will swim 100’s. All four
strokes (Fly, Back, Breast, & Free) will be offered to each age
group. To swim in the meet, turn in a completed consolidated entry
form by Wednesday June 26th at 7:30pm.
Consolidated entry forms can be found at the pool or on our
team website in the events section labeled “Shark Pride Day
Dual Meet”. Consolidated entry forms can be turned in to the
manila envelope labeled “Meet Entries” located on the
team bulletin board in the Shark Tank area.

Camping: Get your sleeping bags and
marshmallows ready! We will be camping at Bushay Recreation
Area Campgrounds at Lake Mendocino. The price is $25 per
night with a maximum of 8 people plus 2 vehicle per campsite.
Total of $50 per campsite for 2 nights stay (Friday July
26th & Saturday July 27th).Campsites
could accommodate 2 families. If we have 2 families per
campsite we can split the accommodations to $12.50 per family
per night.

camping during the Ukiah Swim Meet please contact Marylou

Interested in Making
Your Own Reservations: Families interested in
making their own reservation either call 1-877 444-6777 or
go to the website http://www.recreation.gov/, then choose Bushay
Recreation Area Campground. Our families would like to stay
close together. Please try to reserve the other campsites near by
B83, B51, B53, B55, B79, and B80. These campsites are closer
to the grassy play area and lake access.
