DCST Takes a Bite out of the Barracudas

            The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) improved to 3 – 0 on the summer season with a victory against the visiting Cary Barracudas.  DCST won by a score of 464 – 243.  As a team, DCST swam okay with a 134 personal lifetime best times out of a total of a 292 swims for an improvement rate of 46%.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Kylee Heck, age 10, and Andrew Wu, age 8, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

            The following 45 swimmers had an excellent meet with at least two best individual times in the meet:   Alex Barleen, Anthony Biundo, Kristina Biundo, Jake Bjork, Justin Buck, Joanna Burnham, Celia Carpenter, Robert Carpenter, Emily Carpino, Madyson Casiano, Maura Fisers, Tommy Frayne, Kaitlyn Goff, Jacob Gramer, Teresa Gramer, Jenna Hale, Megan Hale, Adrianne Hall, Gwen Hall, Mckyala Hanus, Kylee Heck, Grace Johnson, Elina Keswani, Abby Krull, Sarah Larson, Julia Luo, Holden Mackey, Michaela McMahon, Rebecca Nenonen, Dane Pardridge, Allie Peterson, Dylan Rasmussen, Julia Rasmussen, Edith Reynolds, Bradley Ruetten, Paul Ruetten, Brendan Sullivan, Alyssa Swanson, Libby Swedberg, Tyler Theis, Riley Wiegartz, Aleida Wilkins, Kiki Wittenberg, Andrew Wu and Athena Ye.

            DCST’s is in action this weekend (June 28 – 30) at the Champaign USA Meet.  DCST’s next full team dual meet is on Tuesday, July 2 at McHenry.
