At a few recent qualifying events some of the world’s best swimmers have earned their trip to the 15th FINA World .
Championships.  The Barcelona 2013 Championships will feature the greatest international athletes from the up-and-coming stars like Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky to veterans that have already participated at the first FINA World Championships in Barcelona ten years ago, such as Natalie Coughlin, Kosuke Kitajima and Katinka Hosszu.

Everything is set for Barcelona 2013. Twelve months after the London 2012 Olympics, the crème de la crème of swimming looks forward to the most important meet this year and with Michael Phelps retired from the sport, the aquatics community is excited to find out who will be his successor.

While the fans look forward to seeing the world’s best swimmer in action in Barcelona, Spain’s athletes aim to climb the podium in front of the home crowd. Since the FINA World Championships were established in 1973, Spain has claimed 46 medals (26 in synchronized swimming, seven in open water swimming, seven in swimming and six in water polo).
