DCST Lets the Marlins off the Hook

DCST Lets the Marlins off the Hook

The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) dropped its first dual meet of the season when they traveled to McHenry.  The Marlins defeated DCST by a score of 394 – 291.  DCST is now 3 – 1 on the summer season.  With only 49 swimmers entered in the meet, DCST did not have many swims in the meet.  Furthermore, the swims were not particularly stellar with only 26 personal lifetime best times out of a total of a 124 swims for an improvement rate of 21%.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Rachel Maxwell, age 10, and Brendan Sullivan, age 8, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

The following 7 swimmers had an excellent meet with at least two best individual times in the meet:   Matt Allen, Nick Glover, Adam Goelitz, Kylee Heck, Nick Johnson, Elizabeth Steckel and Brendan Sullivan.

DCST’s next full team dual meet is on Tuesday, July 9 at home against Huntley.
