CCCAN Hosts Caribbean Swim Coaches Clinic Set for August 9 in Barbados
CCCAN Hosts Caribbean Level 2 Swim Coaches Clinic set for Barbados on August 9-11
Dear Friends
I am very excited about the interest that we have received in the Caribbean Coaches' Clinic to be held in Barbados from August 9 to 11.  This outstanding clinic will feature Caribbean Olympians Leah Martindale-Stancil and Anthony Nesty.  Leah and Anthony have been enormously succesful in the training and development of age group and elite athletes at the University of Florida where both serve as Assistant Coaches.  They are excellent mentors in the important area of coaching development.
I firmly believe that the future will be very rewarding for coaches who avail themselves of opportunities like this one and twho are willing to seek knowledge and sharpen their skills. Those who make use of technology and the latest theories of  coaching will surely see the results with their athletes ascent to the podium.  I can also confirm that the clinic will be at the level of ASCA Level 2 certification and that we are working with ASCA for certification of the participants.
Clinic participants will be accommodated at the BARBADOS BEACH CLUB on Maxwell Coast Road in Christ Church.  The clinic will be taking place also at the Hotel using the conference facilities there. The Barbados Beach Club is an all inclusive Hotel and the rate quoted below is inclusive of all meals. Check-in Friday at 12:00 Noon and checkout Monday before 12:00 Noon.  The total cost for the three days of the clinic: Friday, Saturday & Sunday is US $285.00.
The  Barbados Olympic Association will transport coaches to the BASA swimming pool for the practical sessions at no further expense to the coaches. The BASA aquatics complex is located at the Sir Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.
On arrival, clinic participants are requested to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel which is only 15 minutes from the Grantley Adams International Airport.  Coaches should return their registration forms complete with their arrival and departure dates or flight itineraries so that hotel reservations can be confirmed as soon as possible.
I am asking that you widely distribute this information to your coaches.  I urge you to promote this clinic and that you encourage them to broaden their education and enhance their skills as coaches. The clinic is sponsored by CCCAN as part of our strategic plan to continue educating and ensuring that the coaches in the region have access to current information on coaching techniques for the on going development of swimming in the region.
The clinic will be co-sponsored by the American Swimming Coaches Association, USA Swimming, the Barbados Olympic Association and Barbados Amateur Swimming Association. The CCCAN Technical Swimming Committee, in the person of its secretary Sonia O'Neal, has been assisting me with the planning of this clinic.  Sonia can be reached at:
CCCAN looks forward to welcoming your coaches to this clinic.
