River Rats Scurry Past DCST

River Rats Scurry Past DCST

The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) went on the road and lost their last dual meet of the season by a score of 389 – 318 to the Geneva River Rats.  DCST’s dual meet record for the season was 4 – 2.   As a team, DCST swam okay with only 77 personal lifetime best times out of a total of a 183 swims for an improvement rate of 42%.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Kensie Lennartz, age 8, and Robert Carpenter, age 11, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

The following 23 swimmers had an excellent meet with at least two best individual times in the meet:   Matt Allen, Robert Carpenter, Lou Dukes, Miles Galindo, Alex Grados, Anthony Gutierrez, Abbie Johnson, Nick Johnson, Brooke Koehnke, Sam Krull, Josephine McMahon, Emily Mildner, Libby Mildner, Dylan Rasmussen, Julia Rasmussen, Elissa Roose, David Ruetten, Elizabeth Steckel, Brendan Sullivan, Alyssa Swanson, Calvin VanderSchee, Jared VanderSchee and Riley Wiegartz.

DCST will not have to wait long to get a shot at avenging their loss to Geneva.  On Saturday, July 20, DCST will be hosting the NCISC “A” Conference Championship.
