Over the weekend we had a women’s 400 medley relay qualify and swim at the 2013 Speedo Sectional Championships in Santa Clarita, CA. Our VJO relay team consisted of Mirelle Augst (15) swimming back, Elina Rosario (13) swimming breast, Alyssa Powell (14) swimming fly, andKelley Henderson (18) swimming free.  This was the first time for all four of these ladies qualifying and swimminf at Sectional Championships. Our girls swam against many teams in and out of our state.  We were even competing against many college teams (Cal Poly, San Diego State, University of Utah, University of the Pacific, and University of San Diego.  Our VJO ladies swam well and finished with a 4:49.03 LCM… moving up 9 places.  Great job ladies and congratulations!

 

 

 

As of today we have raised $8,523 for our Swim-A-Thon.  Remember our team goal is to raise $15,000...  we’ve still got a ways to go. You can collect donations all the way up to this Thursday, July 25^th. 

 

 

 

 

Team Picture Day – Thurs July 25^th 4-6pm

Our Team Picture Day is this Thursday July 25^th.Individual and group pictures will be taken from 4:00-5:30pm and the team picture will be at 5:30pm. Make sure to bring your turquoise team shirt for the team picture.  Individual pictures can be taken in your team suit. Picture packets have been placed in you file folders today. Swimmers make sure you bring your suits for after, because we will be getting in the water for Shark Pride Day (6-7pm) afterwards. 

 

 

Last Day for Swim-A-Thon Donations– Thurs July 25^th

All Swim-A-Thon donations are due this Thirsday, July 25^th. Make sure you have your envelopes clearly marked with swimmers FIRST/LAST name. Also include a PHONE NUMBER in case we have questions. This Thursday July 25^th is Shark Pride Day!  All groups will be swimming after team pictures from 6-7pm.   The last Thursday of every month is Shark Pride Day. On this day, all VJO swimmers are encouraged to wear their team shirts to school and around town.  Show off your Shark spirit!  We want to encourage team unity by having the entire swim team practice together.  The team will be warming up and playing games together.  This will be a team building day with a great opportunity to get to know swimmers in other groups. 

 

 

There is no practice this Friday July 26^th, all coaches and swimmers will be attending the Ukiah Meet.

TIME:Meet begins at 4 p.m on Friday (warm-ups from 3:00-3:45pm).  Saturday and Sunday meet begins at 9am (warm-up from 7:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m.).  Please be ready to get in at the start of warm-ups.

Camping:  Get your sleeping bags and marshmallows ready!  We will be camping at Bushay Recreation Area Campgrounds at Lake Mendocino.  The price is $25 per night with a maximum of 8 people plus 2 vehicle per campsite. Total of $50 per campsite for 2 nights stay (Friday July 26^th & Saturday July 27^th).Campsites could accommodate 2 families. If we have 2 families per campsite we can split the accommodations to $12.50 per family per night.

Please try to reserve the other campsites near by B83, B51, B53, B55, B79, B80, B69, B70, B71, B72, B73, B77, B78, B81, B82 (these are were our VJO families are currently staying. These campsites are closer to the grassy play area and lake access.

 

 

 

 

Swimmers must have achieved the Far Western time standard to enter this meet. The 2013 LC Summer Far Western Championships on August 1-5 will be held at the Frank Fiscalini International Swim Center at Independence High School, 627 North Jackson Avenue, San Jose, CA 95133. The meet is opened online for entries.

***Zone 3 Championships is now open for entries online***.  This is our last meet of the summer season and everyone is expected to attend.  The meet will be held at our Vallejo Pool, so no commuting necessary. Relays will be swum on both Saturday and Sunday. All VJO swimmers should plan on being in relays unless informed otherwise by your coach.  Meet sheets have been placed up your file folder.  You can sign up online or mail in your entries.  Please talk to your coach regarding events.
