GRPA State Championships SCAT just cant stop!!!

With the risk of sounding like a broken record after last week’s Age Group Long Course State meet, our Pirate/SCAT swimmers continued the record breaking, award winning swims that we have been accustomed to!

SCAT swimmers don’t only “shred” their suits in play; they “shred” their times, records and accomplishments each time they step up to the blocks!

Congratulations first to Arion Solomon for setting 3 new GRPA State records in the same day! 1st place finishes in the 50 & 100 Free!

Kenzie Tucker, Tyler Pruett, Tommy Ennis and Arion Solomon all come home with the title STATE CHAMPION behind their name having placed 1st in their events!

The honors of SCAT NEW TEAM RECORD go to Cassidy Klekot (25 Breast); Tyler Pruett (25 Fly, 9-10 boys 100 fr and medley relay); Kenzie Tucker (25 Br);  Josiah Solomon, Nick Farinacci and Michael Tucker (9-10 boys 100 fr and medley relay)

The following swimmers made it the finals and placed!

Alyson Phinney (50 fr – 2nd place & 50 fly – 5th place); Gabe Bartolomei (100 fr – 3rd place & 50 bk – 4th place); Summer How (25fr – 4th place); Emily Moore (25 bk – 5th place & 25 fly – 7th place); Josiah Solomon (25 fly – 7th place); Michael Tucker (25 fly – 7th place); Jefferson Downs (100 Fr – 7th place); Jim Long (50 back – 7th place); Kenzie Tucker ( made it to finals in 50 fr & 25 br);

Once again, it’s hard when we only recognize top places as it sometimes overlooks the achievements of those that qualified just to make it to the meet.  The following swimmers had to place in the top 2 in the district to qualify for the state championship.    This is impressive and we certainly congratulate these additional swimmers from SCAT:

Nanami Lillie, Rachel and Thomas Reininger, Holly and George Hatch, Addie Fraker, Ethan Humphrey, Madison Moore and Madison Short.

Addie, Holly, Ethan, Madison M. and Madison S. just missed finals by a small margin.

Thanks to all of our swimmers and families that committed their summer to SCAT and Pirates!  We know the season is long and you spend hours at the pool.  We hope some of these achievements help you recognize the hard work your swimmers put in this year.

We look forward to one last “State Meet” report from our Senior swimmers at Athens this weekend and wish luck to Arion Solomon and Tan Dunn as they travel to Greenville, SC next week for the Zone Championships!  That meet will be our final for the season.  Let’s not forget to enjoy these two weeks off and come back rested and ready on August 12th!
