FAST Takes Second Place at Open Water Junior Olympics!
Southern California Swimming hosted an inaugural Open Water Junior Olympics this year at Lake Castaic in Santa Clarita, CA.  FAST finished in second place overall with 308 points in a field of 15 participating teams!  Races were separated by age group: 10 & Under (1K), 11-12 (2K), and 13 & Over (3K).  FAST was represented very well by Mariah Ames, Ashley Beck, Alejandro Buendia, Gianna Cross, Ethan Dickinson, Roseryn Empremsilapa, Tyryn Empremsilapa, Maddie Gorrie, Kelsey Hall, Elizabeth Harita, Tyler Hong, Skyler Kao, Sean Lundin, Terence Ma, Clarence Mao, Lawrence Mao, Lillianne Mazzi, Jennifer Muratalla, Meghan O'Malley, Cathryn Salladin, Cecelia Smith, Joseph Weissig, and Erin Wu.  SCS's recap can be read here.  FAST highlights are noted below.
10 & Under
Skyler Kao, Alejandro Buendia, and Clarence Mao earned 39 points as the third place team in the 10 & Under Boys race.
Lillianne Mazzi was the overall winner in the 10 & Under Girls race.  Tyryn Empremsilapa picked up third and Cecelia Smith finished in fourth.  The 10 & Under girls claimed first place in their team competition with 105 points.

Ethan Dickinson raced to third place in the 11-12 Boys race with teammates Joseph Weissig (6th place) and Terence Ma (8th place) also finishing in the top 8.  This trio took second place in their team competition with a total of 74 points.
13 & Over
Sean Lundin and Cathryn Salladin each earned the 8th place spot in their races.  Salladin was joined by Roseryn Empremsilapa, Gianna Cross, Erin Wu, and Mariah Ames in scoring 78 points for a 2nd place finish in their team competition.
