The Ridgefield Aquatic Club, RAC, had a great weekend of swimming at the CT Senior Championships. The meet took place in Middletown, CT at Wesleyan University on July 11-14, 2013. RAC placed 5th overall at the meet, with the women placing 4th place and the men placing 5th place.
RAC’s success was due to the phenomenal swimming during the weekend. The following swimmers all had finishes in the Top 24: Brian Bollerman, AJ Bornstein, Kristi Edleson, Lindsey Gordon, Sophie Hayes, Jamie Knippenberg, Marcie Maguire, Faith Martin, Jimmy Martin, Lilly Martin, Emily Motill, Kevin Pawlak, Kevin Santoro, Kieran Smith, John Tusa, Alexis Valedon and Brian Valedon.
RAC is thrilled to announce that there were a number of team records made at the Senior Championship. For the women, Marcie Maguire (13/14 girls) set three new records: the 100 Back - 1:06.23, the 200 back - 2:23.91 and the 200 IM - 2:30.94. Lindsey Gordon (13/14 girls) established two new records: the 100 Breast - 1:15.34 and the 200 Breast - 2:47.59. For the men, AJ Bornstein (13/14 boys) set a new 200 Breast record with a time of 2:29.37 and Lexo Walker (13/14 boys) set a new record for the 50 Free with a time of 26.36.
There were also some very exciting relay events and four new RAC team records were achieved. The first was the Female Open 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:52.94, the swimmers were Marcie Maguire, Alexis Valedon, Hannah Snyder and Faith Martin. The second record was the Female Open 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:30.62, with the swimmers Marcie Maguire, Lindsey Gordon, Lilly Martin and Faith Martin. The last 2 records were the Male 13-14 200 Medley Relay with a time of 2:03.47 and the Male 13-14 400 Medley Relay with a time of 4:23.45, the swimmers for both were Kevin Santoro, AJ Bornstein, Kieran Smith and Lexo Walker.
Additionally, three RAC swimmers made time qualifications for the Super Sectional meet in August. The swimmers and their respective events are; AJ Bornstein - 100 Breast, Kevin Pawlak - 200 Fly and Lindsey Gordon - 200 Breast.
