August 4, 2013
Hello Neptune Families,
The 2012-2013 season is coming to an end and I'd like to take this opportunity to say Thank You all for being a member of Neptune Swimming. Together we span ages 4 years old to college age athletes and everything in between, yet, we are all on the same team and that's what makes the sport of swimming so unique and special.
We are all very sad to see Coach Dave leave our family and move to Houston, but we are happy and excited for him to start his new journey. As we like to say to athletes that move from the area, the same applies to coaches as well "Once a Neptune, Always a Neptune". I know that Dave would love to hear of your success in life and in swimming, so please keep in contact with him over the next few years.
Coach Tony is super excited to step in and take over the coaching responsibilities for the Blue group. A few other changes are Coach Kathleen taking over the Red 1 group and RP Ivey taking over the Red 2 group.
GOOD LUCK! to all outgoing freshman in college. We are proud of you all and excited to see what you achieve in your lives. Please come by the pool when you are in town and check in with us. It's been a great journey and we wish you the best in the next phase of your life.
A few reminders:
Spirit Week is Monday (Aug 5) through Thursday (Aug 8) from 4:15-5:45 pm at Ridgway. All Neptune athletes are encouraged to attend this fun team building week. To view the spirit week home page & sign up to purchase pizzas for volunteer hour click here
Zone 3 Champs is the end of the season meet for the team. Neptunes have been tasked with running the clerk of course station at the Zone meet - we still need a few volunteers to step up and fill in the empty time slots - to view the job sign up page click here
Team Break starts Monday Aug 12 and extends through Sunday Aug 25. First day of the new 2013-2014 season begins Monday Aug. 26th. The break is needed to allow kids to adjust to the start of a new school year and to allow their bodies some time to grow after a long season of hard training. Please fight the urge of taking your kids to a pool to work on swimming. We use the first month of the new season to re-teach skills and the more foreign the water and body movements feel, the easier it will be for the athletes to make the necesary adjustments to their strokes to help avoid injury and improve swimming speed.
The new schedule is posted online. To view the 2013 fall schedule, click here.
Upon our return to Ridgway on Monday Aug. 26th, the city of Santa Rosa will be doing some much needed repairs to the locker rooms and these repairs will be taking place until the end of the week. Please be prepared to come to practice in your swim suits and shower at home. We apologize for the incovnenience this may cause but the weather will be warm and it's only for a week.
Once again, thank you all for your strong support of Neptune Swimming.
Dan Greaves, head coach
