August 8, 2013
Hi Everyone - We hope you are all enjoying your summer!
There's a couple of things coming up - one of them TOMORROW - so wanted to be sure everyone gets the info . . .
FRIDAY AUGUST 9th - Open Water practice from 7-8am. All Intermediate swimmers and up are invited. Meet at the Peach!
SATURDAY AUGUST 10th - Peach Festival Parade - KISU will be represented in the parade this year by a dozen or so of our swimmers sporting KISU shirts and goggles, blowing bubble, and handing out our cards and tattoos. Care to join them? If so, please plan to meet near the Library/Museum between 9-9:30am (don't be later than 9:30!!). Look for the KISU banner and wagon.
FRIDAY AUGUST 16th and SATURDAY AUGUST 17th - The Okanagan Masters Swim Club is hosting FINA-rules Open Water swim races in Kelowna. The events will be preceded by an Open Water Clinic featuring Olympic Bronze Medallist and 2013 World Open Water Championship Silver Medallist, Richard Weinberger from Victoria. Age group swimmers who enter the 1.5 KM or 5 KM event have an opportunity to participate in the Open Water Clinic for FREE. The purpose of the this event is to introduce youth to this new Olympic sport. The venue (Waterfront Park on beautiful Okanagan Lake) is warm, sheltered from boats, and it is well supervised by lifeguards and Open Water swim officials. This is a great opportunity to meet Canada’s first Olympic medallist in OW swimming. To register, go to http://okmasters.com/meets/2013-apple-open-water-invitational . Questions? Email Club President Brent Hobbs @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
MONDAY AUGUST 12th thru THURSDAY AUGUST 15th - As some of you know, many of our KISU swimmers are also avid outrigger paddlers, and the Penticton Racing Canoe Club is running an Introduction to Paddling course for Junior paddlers ages 11&Older. $47, 4:30-6pm.
