A bit of summer KISU news . . .

Challenge Week is here – best wishes to all of our KISU affiliated athletes who are participating in the races!

A big Thank You goes out to all of the swimmers (and families) who took part in the recentPeach Festival Parade.  It was wonderful to be represented!

KISU Swim Club is the FIRST SPORTS CLUB IN CANADA to submit our completed application for Club Excellence certification!  We have been the pilot club with SwimBC to go through the process, but little did we know that we would be the first in Canada to submit for our certification!  Congratulations and Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes to help to make this happen.  So, what does this mean?  Visit the Club Excellence website at to learn more about the standards for excellence and how these best practices will benefit our club and our sport.

KISU is part of the True Sport movement!  True Sport is a series of programs and initiatives designed to give people, communities and organizations the means by which to leverage the many benefits of sport from a platform of shared values and principles.

New Staff Update . . . Coach Sue is moving to a new part of the deck this fall as the coach for Age Group for the 2013/14 season,  and we are hiring a new coach to fill her shoes with the Junior and Fitness programs.  We are also in the process of hiring Mini Squad Coaches, and YES Coaches for the upcoming season.  If you know someone who has experience with competitive swimming (or teaching swimming) and is interested in working with our YES and Mini Squad programs, please have them contact Anne ( or Tina (

Did you break a Long Course record this season?  A copy of the current records is posted under the Results section of the website, so please take a look and email Nancy Telford ( before August 30th, with the swimmer’s name, event, and time if there is a new record to be added to the board!  We are currently checking our own records, but want to be sure we don’t miss anyone.

We are looking for a Volunteer to Coordinate the Farm Bag Fundraiser for KISU this year.  We have already signed up to participate, and there is an information meeting for coordinators on August 28th.  If you are interested please let Jill know ( - Thanks!
