September 11 CLUB NEWS

The season has officially started!  KISU would like to welcome our 163 member families to our club for another fabulous year of swimming.

For those of you who are new to the club, this marks the first official Club News email of 2013/14.  Club News is our weekly communication tool with our families.  It will typically contain a To Do list (with reminders of upcoming dates and deadlines), a Parent Article, and sometimes other useful and interesting information.  If you ever delete the email but find you still need some of the info, you’ll always find a copy listed in the Club News section on the home page of our website.

“If people aren’t laughing at your dreams, then they aren’t big enough.”

- Grayson Marshall

TO DO

Sign up for the Welcome Back BBQ.  Following KISU tradition, we will be getting together for a BBQ at Lakawana Park on Friday, Sept 13th after practice (6pm).  Please sign up online by clicking the  “Attend/Decline” button to the right of the event name listed under the Events section on our home page.  In the comments section, please include the number of people from your family who will be attending so that we know how much food to bring!  Our equipment managers will be there with KISU gear for sale, too.

Feed your Swimmer Fresh, Local Produce . . . with the Farm Bag Fundraiser!  KISU is participating in the Farm Bag Fundraiser this year – we believe it’s a great way to raise money for our club while providing something very important to our membership – great fuel!  Families go online and sign up to receive a bag of fresh produce once per month from October thru February.  The produce is delivered right to the Community Centre so you can pick it up after your child’s swim practice!  Share this great deal with family and friends – sign up online at http://farmbagfundraiser.com/kisu-swim-club

Work out while your child swims!  The Community Centre offers discounted rates for groups who purchase gym passes.  Whether you are a parent, or a swimmer, why not take advantage of this deal?  Contact Jill (admin@kisu.ca) to be a part of the KISU group discount.

Remind a YES swimmer to register!  Registration is still happening for the YES program.  They start in the water on Tuesday, October 1st.  The YES program (Young Enabled Swimmers) is our training group for swimmers withphysical and/or intellectual disabilities. The water allows these athletes a freedom that many never experience on land. The Canadian and International Swimming Associations have a well-developed program to allow these athletes to participate and compete with one another.
