Fifty-Two Lifetime Bests and Three Team Records at Kevin Perry Invitational!
Last weekend FAST hosted over 800 athletes at the Janet Evans Swim Complex for the fifth annual Kevin Perry Senior Invitational.  FAST swimmers turned in 52 lifetime bests!  Three swimmers cracked into the top 10 national rankings this season for their age division.
  • Elise Garcia: 10th, 13-year old Girls 200 Free, 1:55.09
  • Simon Lamar: 1st, 13-year old Boys 1,000 Free, 9:35.97
  • Simon Lamar: 1st, 13-year old Boys 1,650 Free, 15:53.35
  • Jerad Kaskawal: 9th, 17-year old Boys, 500 Free, 4:32.99
  • Jerad Kaskawal: 1st, 17-year old Boys 1,000 Free, 9:17.22
  • Jerad Kaskawal: 1st, 17-year old Boys 1,650 Free, 15:28.68

Jerad took down a 6+ year old team record in the 15-18 Boys 1,650 Free.  The previous record of 15:35.76 was set in February 2007 by Tyler Clary.  Simon Lamar reset his own team record in the 13-14 Boys 1,000 Free (Previous Record: 9:39.72, January 2013).  He also broke the 13-14 Boys 1,650 Free record (Previous Record: 16:00.51 -- Evan Munaretto, January 2013).

Sixteen FAST swimmers posted best times throughout the weekend in a wide range of events.  Congratulations to Hana Claesson (1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Andres Frausto (400 IM), Elise Garcia (1,000 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free), Madeline Garcia (1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Sidney Kao (100 Free, 500 Free, 1,650 Free), Jerad Kaskawal (100 Free, 200 IM, 1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Isabella Kearns (100 Fly, 200 Fly, 1,000 Free), Simon Lamar (500 Free, 1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Sean Lundin (200 Fly), Allie Miller (1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Cristian Moncayo (100 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free, 200 Back), Diego Pabalan (100 Free, 500 Free, 200 Back, 1,000 Free, 1,650 Free), Cathryn Salladin (200 Free, 500 Free, 1,000 Free), Mandy Schatz (200 Fly), Natalie Tedjasukmana (100 Free, 200 IM), and Courtney Tseng (100 Free, 100 Fly, 500 Free, 1,000 Free).
 
FAST had nine Finals swims on Saturday with Elise Garcia leading the way.  Elise raced in the A Final of the 50 Free, 200 Free, and 500 Free finishing in 9th, 6th, and 7th, respectively.  Courtney Tseng finished 30th overall with her 10th place finish in the C Final.  This meet was Courtney's first Senior meet of this caliber.  Isabella Kearns took 7th place in the 200 Fly dropping 7 seconds with a lifetime best 2:05.93.  Diego Pabalan posted a season best 55.52 in the 100 Back taking 4th in the C Final for 24th place.  Jerad Kaskawal raced to 5th place in the B Final of the 200 Free with season bests of 1:44.63 in Prelims and 1:44.83 in Finals.  Ganem Tebet competed in two Finals on Saturday placing 27th in the 100 Breast and 15th in the 400 IM with season best times in both events.
 
Sunday brought six more Finals swims for FAST.  Ganem raced to 19th place in the 200 Breast with a season best time.  Sidney Kao and Jerad Kaskawal both raced tough in the 500 Freestyle.  Sidney posted a lifetime best 4:46.12 in Prelims and was just off that time in Finals turning in a second-best 4:47.20 in Finals for 29th place.  Jerad finished 3rd with a second-best time of 4:33.32.  His Prelims time of 4:32.99 tied his lifetime best.  Isabella Kearns qualified for the A Final of the 400 IM with a season best 4:34.92.  She chopped off half a second in the evening for a final time of 4:34.50 and 9th place finish.
 
FAST had a strong showing in the distance events (held on all three days) with 17 lifetime bests.  Hana Claesson, Madeline Garcia, Sidney Kao, Jerad Kaskawal, Simon Lamar, and Allie Miller raced both the 1,000 and 1,650 throughout the weekend dropping in both!  Hana dropped half a second in the 1,000 and 3 seconds in the 1,650.  Madeline cut 10 seconds off of her 1,000 time and nearly 6 off of her 1,650.  Sidney dropped 17 in the 1,650 and posted his first-ever time in the 1,000 after qualifying with a 800 Free (Long Course) time.  Jerad dropped 1:12 in the 1,650 and 50 seconds in the 1,000.  Simon cut 10 seconds off of his 1,650 with a best time in the 1,000 along the way.  Allie Miller cut off nearly 30 seconds in her 1,000 and followed it up with a 24-second drop in the 1,650 on Sunday.  Other drops in the distance events were posted by Elise Garcia (first time racing the 1,000 Free, qualified for Sectionals), Isabella Kearns (9 seconds in the 1,000), Cathryn Salladin (23 seconds in the 1,000), Courtney Tseng (32 seconds in the 1,000), and Diego Pabalan (first time racing the 1,650 free, plus a 25-second drop in the 1,000 along the way).
 
The meet was fast across the board with swimmers setting three new Kevin Perry Meet records.  FAST team records and Kevin Perry meet records are listed below.
