The coaches and swimmers of TBAY Brandon were honored to have Amber McDermott, one of the top swimmers at the University of Georgia and member of the U.S. Team at the 2010 Junior Pan Pacific Championships and Courtney McDermott, two time All American and one of the top swimmers at Emory University, join them for several workouts during their recent visit to Valrico, FL.
An accomplished distance swimmer, Amber won the 400m, 800m and 1500m free at the 2009 U.S. Open and was named to the 2009-10 U.S. National Team. Originally from Mill Creek, WA, Amber elected to swim collegiately at Georgia. She was a member of the NCAA winning 800 free relay in 2012 and also was NCAA runner-up in the 500 free that year. Most recently in the 2013 NCAA Championships Amber finished 2nd in the 500 free and 4th in the 1650 free.
After leading her team in winning the Washington State High School Championships, Courtney elected to continue her swimming career at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Her swims in the 500 and 1650 free helped lead Emory to the last three of its four consecutive Division III NCAA Championships; capping an impressive string of 13 consecutive top four NCAA finishes.
