New Coaches - We are very pleased to welcome two new coaches to the team!
Pete Loveland will be taking over as lead Bronze coach as well as helping with Gold on some days. Pete has been active in coaching swimming for the past 27 years. His experience includes being an assistant and head coach in age-group, middle school, and high school swimming. In addition to the Stingrays, Pete is currently the assistant swim coach at Saline High School for the girls' and boys' teams and is entering his 20th season as the head coach at Huron Valley Swim Club.
Pete is a math teacher at Saline High School and lives in Saline with his wife Tracy and their four children. In his free time, right, free time, haha.
Matt Durflinger will also be joining us this season assisting Pete with the Bronze group.
Growing up on Lake Michigan, I couldn't help but be a swimmer and have been enjoying the water my entire life. I started age-group swimming at 11 years old and quickly knew I had found an outlet for my competitive streak. As a swimmer at St. Joseph High School, I was a varsity letter-winner all four years and was elected team captain for both Junior and Senior years.
After taking several years away from swimming post-high school, I dove back in again 6 years ago as a first-time triathlete. Since then, I have rediscovered my love for swimming (and triathlon) and have spent many hours baffling my wife with my deep interest in training plan structure and stroke technique.
I am excited to be a part of what the Stingrays are building and am looking forward to bringing my love of the water and training to the kids on the team.
Please join me in welcoming these great additions to the team!
