Manta Ray Partners

 The Southwest Ohio Classic Swim Meet concluded following Sunday night Finals at St Xavier High School. This year's largest High School meet in the country featured more than 3,000 athletes representing 110 schools across southwest Ohio at ten preliminary sites. The Top Eight Manta Ray finishers include:

Manta Ray Zoe Thatcher (Senior-Mason HS) won her fourth consective Classic title in 1650 in this fast mid-season and unrested meet. Zoe placed in the Top 8 in all of her events: 2nd 500 & 200 free, 4th 200 Back

Hannah Whiteley (Sophmore-Springboro) crushed the her own meet record in the 100 back!  She also set another meet record in the 200 back and eighth in the 50 free! 

Sydney Lofquist (Junior-Ursuline) had a great meet winning three of her four events and placed in the top 8 in her fourth.  Sydney continued the Manta Ray streak of winning the women's 500 free at this meet for the 10th year in a row!  She also won the 200 & 400 IM and placed 5th in the 200 fly.   

Alisabeth Marsteller (Senior-Ursuline) placed in the top eight in two of her events including a third place finish in the 100 free, fourth  in the 200 free. Marsteller was also a part of four winning relays including one record setting relay. 

   Casey Frazier (Sr - Lakota West) had two Top 8 finishes:  200 breast (6th) and 400 IM (7th).  Ashley Volpenhein (Fr- Mason) placed in the top four of all her events:  50 free 6th, 100 Free 5th, 100 fly 8th, and 200 IM 7th.   Panos Skoufalos (Senior-Seven Hills) placed third in the 50 and had a few very fast relay swims. Justin Hove (Junior-Mason) placed sixth in the 200 Free and eigth in the 1650.  

The Classic is unique in that it features all USA swimming events rather than just the eleven (11) standard events used in High School competition.
