CAC Distance Meet

On December 21st, 45 Manta Ray swimmers made their way to compete in the CAC Winter Distance Meet. This competition was a great opportunity for all of our swimmers to have the opportunity to swim in the 500 freestyle and/or 1650 freestyle for the quest of the Manta Ray Ironman award!

Our swimmers achieved 93% best times, and 20 top eight finishes by our swimmers. Of our swimmers we had three JO Qualifiers – Allison Bloebaum in the13-14 1650 freestyle, and Kierstyn Cassidy in the 13-14 500 and 1650 freestyle events. The Manta Rays also had four event winners at the meet with A. Bloebaum in the 13-14 1650, Carl Bloebaum in the 10 & under 500, K. Cassidy in the 13-14 500 and Rhea Mehta in the 10 & under 1650 freestyle.

We all know these distance events are tough, so great job to our Manta Ray swimmers in their efforts at the CAC in December!

RAYS IMX Invitational

The Manta Rays hosted the Rays IMX Invitational on December 22nd, which was a great meet for our swimmers to participate in the 200’s of stroke and the 200 & 400 IM in season. Our team had a great showing, with 110 Manta Ray swimmers participating – and achieving 32 new best times!

Three swimmers hit the Junior Olympics standard at the meet; Carl Bloebaum in the 10 & under 200 IM, Seth Butler in the 10 & under 200 freestyle, and Alex Zhang in both the10 & under  200 IM and 200 freestyle.

The Manta Ray success didn’t stop there, we had two new team records set at the IMX meet. Adam Chaney set a new record in the 11-12 boys 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:21.35 – which was also a 15 second drop for Chaney. 8 & under Emily Zhang set a new team record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 3:17.84.

Thank you to all the parents that helped us host a great, successful home meet for our swimmers. Fantastic swims Manta Rays!
