Hello PVAC Families,
PVAC had a great 2013 swim year – ending it on a high! We are getting amped up to make 2014 even better. Not only have we increased our swim meet participation but also our swims have greatly improved. Personal bests are constantly being achieved at each swim meet and we have had added a new member of our team to the JO qualifier list. Practice makes perfect – that old saying! Keep coming to the workouts so that we can make our goals happen for the New Year.
Frances Dygean, qualified and represented PVAC proudly at the 2014 Winter Junior Olympics held at Golden West College. This was Frances’ first J.O.’s and she’s working hard not to make it her last one. Great Job Frances!!! Frances has already qualified for more events for the 2014 Summer Junior Olympics.
As we start the 2014 year, we have some changes to our coaching staff:
Coach Jenna graduated from Cal-State Long Beach this past spring 2013 and is starting a new career in Sports Management. We wish Coach Jenna the best and hope she stays in touch. Thank you Coach Jenna for all your work and dedication to our team over the last 10 years (yes, it was really that long).
We welcomed Coach Betsy to our merry squad to begin the 2013-2014 swim season but as we venture into 2014, Coach Betsy will be traveling to Australia for a career opportunity in lifesaving. This is her last week with the team until she returns in May/June. Though this will be a short stay in the land down under, Coach Betsy will stay in touch with us. We wish her a safe voyage and a quick return back to us.
We’d like to welcome Coach Nate to our coaching squad. Coach Nate will be taking over the duties of Coach Betsy and is excited to be on board with our team. Coach Nate is an author, freelance advertising copywriter and online journalist and editor. Prior to turning 10 years old, he was one of the best IMers and butterfliers in Texas. At Phillips Academy Andover, he was proud to place third in IM, behind two All Americans. He’s joining Coach Mike with the PV High School Swim Team this year – adding to his continued love of swimming, helping kids achieve their goals and never missing a PV High School swim meet!
Keep coming to practices - remember to bring something warm to put on after practices! See you on deck!
