DCST Defeats Fox Valley and Hastings Lake

        DCST went to 8 – 1 on the dual meet season with victories over visiting Fox Valley (Plano) and Hastings Lake (Lindenhurst). As a team, DCST swam extremely well with 200 career best times out of a total of 338 swims for a 59% improvement rate. Moreover, 17 of these swims were a new event legally events swum by a DCST swimmer for the first time in their career. DCST also had 16 swims which achieved the District Qualifying, and 19 swims which achieved the State Qualifying time for the first time.

            Sixty-seven swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were:  Franz Allendorfer, Serena Allendorfer, Ty Ament, David Beaty, Anthony Biundo, Gabriella Bothe, Nathan Braun, Amanda Buck, Justin Buck, Maxwell Buck, Sadie Burton, Celia Carpenter, Robert Carpenter, Danny Cork, Kylie Cork, Quinn Cynor, Bella De La Cruz, Mason Dukes, Trinity Eissens, Anabelle Engleson, Grace Flemming, Avery Gerdes, Adam Goelitz, Donny Gramer, Teresa Gramer, Jenna Hale, Megan Hale, Evan Harrelson, Gregory Harrelson, Kylee Heck, Ethan Heilman, Theo Heilman, Emma Heinisch, Chase Huff, Evan Johnson, Grace Kozlowski, Colette LeBlanc, Spencer Mackey, Madelyn Maxwell, Rachel Maxwell, Josephine McMahon, Ana Flavia Michelini, Emily Mildner, Mason Miller, Abby Oberg, Allie Peterson, Julia Rasmussen, Elissa Roose, Bradley Ruetten, David Ruetten, Paul Ruetten, Jasmine Sandoval, Riley Shortridge, Andrew Smith,  Aubri Smith, Hunter Smith, Paige Summerhill, Alyssa Swanson, Libby Swedberg, Andrew Tatum, David Wanner, Asher Wiegartz, Riley Wiegartz, Aleida Wilkins, Madison Williams, Morgan Williams and Colin Wunner.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Gabriella Bothe, age 8, and Mason Miller, age 12, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

          Next weekend, DCST will be hosting the 3 day DCST Winter Classic.  This meet will offer swimmers lots of chances to achieve District, State and National qualifying times.
