Weekly News (Feb 10 - 16)

Hello Panthers,

Coach Golf and I are back from a very busy, but exciting week at the IASAS Swim Championships. I would like to congratulate both the boys and girls teams on their great swims. The girls came away with the silver medal, while the boys had to settle for a fourth place finish. Every swimmer competed at a very high level and swam faster than they ever had before. Many ISB records fell this week along with two IASAS records: Sidney Smith and Martin Brekke are now part of the IASAS history books for 50 free and 100 breast respectively.

Upcoming Events

Local Swim Meets:

With IASAS behind us, we now need to look towards our home Splash Meet (March 15/16) and the BISAC Championships (March 28-30). We have 120 swimmers committed to the splash meet so we just need the last 50 – 60 to get signed up.

The BISAC Championships are city championships in which we select our top swimmers to represent our school and compete against the other International Schools in the conference. Team selections will be announced very soon, so keep training hard.

Travel Meets:

BIS Phuket Flying Fish Meet (May 3&4). This meet has been confirmed and is on our website for you to sign up for.  Please find the meet flyer attached to this swim meet sign up page for all the important information. We have already confirmed a group rate airfare with Nok Air for Friday afternoon. I would like the team to fly together if possible; it is a great way to start the weekend fun together. I have also had my team in the past stay at a hotel called Graceland, which is 25 mins from the school, but right opposite the beach (good trade off if you ask me). We will need swimmer confirmation by March 7th. So please confirm ASAP.

We are still waiting on Hong Kong Mantas (which I can not believe). They say they have confirmed the date of May 10 & 11, but have not reserved the pool. I will email that confirmation as soon as I get it, sorry.

Maka Bucha Day: This Friday February 14th (practice cancelled)

Good luck to those competing in Martins Cup this weekend, Thai Nationals here we come!

That is all for now, see you on deck!
