Relay Carnival at Rodney Heights Aquatic Center in Saint Lucia
Relay Carnival at Rodney Heights Aquatic Center in Saint Lucia

It was an afternoon of fun, excitement and relaxation as most of the islands competitive swimmers got together for a Relay Carnival a the Rodney heights Aquatic center on Sunday 16th February
Swimming a hodge podge of mixed distances, strokes, training techniques and mixed gender and age races, the swimmers had great fun swimming without the stress of major competitive meets

Starting initially in a relaxed mode, the energy levels to picked up to a crescendo, with teams and spectators going at full swing. One young swimmer started the meet off with a bang, and the meet ended on a very high note with a great accomplishment for another of our young rising stars.

Despite no records being broken , the meet ended with two new swimmers achieving two AA Times and thus qualifying for the 2014 CARIFTA Games:

Leading off the Crescendo Relay (Event #2), Christopher Philips of SHARKS achieved his second AA Time in Boys 13-14 SCM 50M Free - 26.90. He also achieved the mark again in the 50M Free Time Trial with a first place finish at 27.10 sec

Finishing off the meet in style was Terrell Monplaisir of SeaJays, who swam a meet best 2:37.09 (a gutsy even split swim) in the SCM 200M Backstroke, achieving his 2nd AA Time in the 11-12 Boys age category.

Congratulations to both clubs coaching and administrative teams, and of course to the TWO swimmers of the meet, for that awesome performance.

This brings our total up to 8 swimmers who have attained multiple AA Times, and even more impressive, we have 3 qualified 11-12 swimmers and qualified swimmers in 5 of the 6 eligible age categories at the CARIFTA Games.
