June 20, 2010
The 2010 swim season is off and running, we had a fantastic time trial last Saturday which we observed great swims as starting points to our season. Our first A-meet had us matched up against a formidable opponent in Potomac. They proved to be an extremely well-rounded team with strengths in all age groups. Potomac provided us with great competition and at meet’s end, we came up short 420 - 372.
Though we did not win the meet, I was struck by the effort we put forth. In every defeat there are pluses or positives from which to build upon. Our pluses were the 115 top times out of the 164 total swims on Saturday... which means, 70% of our swims swum on Saturday were best times. To break that down even further, we had 20 out of 50 events where EVERY Dolphin swimmer in that event had a top time (that would include 4 events of freestyle where there were six swimmers)... These top times are going to be the goals to which we will strive to beat the next time we race in those events... AWESOME JOB DOLPHINS! Be proud of your accomplishments, I am certainly proud of you!
On that note, be looking out for our Monday Maniacs (and Thursday Thrashers, once our B-meets start up this week), we will be providing a sweet incentive for swimmers who achieve top times.
Remember, we are still wearing 'sport uniforms' as our theme for our upcoming meet at Flower Valley on Wednesday evening... GO DOLPHINS!
