"The trouble with not having a goal is that you can spend your life running up & down the field and never score."

–Bill Copeland

TO DO

MARCH’S TEAM PRACTICE IS THIS FRIDAY FROM 4-5:30PM.  It will be our last practice before Spring Break.  NO SATURDAY PRACTICE. We will return to the pool on Monday, March 31.

Set Up Your Swim-A-Thon page:  Details were emailed to each family for setting up your online donation page for Swim-a-thon – don’t delay!  Reaching our goal of $100 in donations per swimmer has never been easier.  Swim-a-thon is happening on Friday, April 11th,  Prize for the top earner as well as a draw prize for swimmers who earn $100 or more.

Wenatchee Apple Capital (May 30 – June 1):  Sign up deadline is Friday (March 14th). So far, we have 40 swimmers signed up for this meet – it’s going to be a fantastic weekend!  Wenatchee hosts a wonderful swim meet in their 10 lane 50m outdoor pool.  Camping is available in the park where the pool is located – check out the meet information if you haven’t already.  And if you aren’t signed up . . . you really should consider going.  I suspect it will be a highlight of the season!

Sign up for Vernon Spring Meet and Jamboree (April 12-13):  Deadline to sign up is Monday, March 17th.  If you are unsure about whether or not your swimmer should attend this meet, please check with your coach!

KAJ Long Course (May 9-11): Deadline is April 18th.

Child Fitness Tax Credits Receipts are available for pick up. They are in a box on the desk in the KISU office.

Thank you to everyone who has brought their account up to date this month!  We sincerely appreciate everyone’s cooperation.

BIG BUS SIGN UP STILL ON . . .

We currently have 24 people committed for the Big Bus meet to Victoria in April.  We need 35 swimmers signed up in order to make this event a “go”.  If you have not signed up, but were thinking of going, NOW is the time to commit.  This Friday, March 14th, will be the final deadline.  If you have signed up as a “maybe”, we need your commitment by Friday as well.  If you would like to participate in fundraising to offset the cost of this meet, Amy Wall has arranged a Grocery Bagging Fundraiser at the Superstore on Saturday, March 15th from 11am-3pm.  Contact Amy asap to get a shift! THE KINETTE DUCK RACE!

KISU has taken the Kinette Club up on a fundraising offer . . . selling tickets for their 4th annual DUCK RACE.  What is a Duck Race?  It’s 4000 rubber ducks being dumped in the Penticton River Channel and “racing” to the Green Mountain Road bridge.  There is a bbq and family fun at the finish line, and the first place duck wins it’s ticket holder $1000!  There are other prizes as well. The event is May 10th, and we have until Monday April 7th to sell 400 tickets.  The tickets are $5 each, with $2.50 from each ticket sold staying directly with KISU!  The other $2.50 supports the Medical Foundation for Pediatrics.  Not only is this a great opportunity for the club, it is a great opportunity for our club to give back to the community by supporting fundraising for the Medical Foundation!

It is our goal to have each swimmer in the club sell a minimum of 10 tickets, and we will be set up in the Community Centre lobby during team practice this Friday to hand out ticket books.  If you can’t pick one up at that time, please email Jill (admin@kisu.ca) and we can make other arrangements.
