On Day 2 of the YMCA National Championships, Daniel Hein and Jack Fergus finish 4th and 12th in the Men’s 100 yard Backstroke respectively.  Both swimmers were under the previous DCST team record, and they both earned National All-American honors for their efforts.  For the day, Hein lowered his best time by over 1 second, and Fergus was 0.7 seconds under his best time.

In addition to the Backstroke, Hein and Fergus earned National All-American honors for the second time on the day when they teamed up with Ryan Schultz and Dylan Powers in the 400 yard Medley Relay.  This foursome finished 11th with a new DCST Team Record.  They shattered the old DCST record by 6.9 seconds!

On the girl’s side, Caitlynn Moon garnered her second National All-American honor of the meet with a 13th place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle.  Caitlynn lowered her previous best time and DCST team record by 1.9 seconds.  Athena Ye, Jensen Keck and Sarah Fergus joined Moon to easily break DCST’s record in the 400 yard Medley Relay by an outstanding 5.9 seconds!  In the 100 yard Backstroke, Athena Ye set the team record for women aged 12 and younger when she went 0.6 seconds under her career best time.  In the same event, Sarah Fergus improved her best time by ½ a second.  In time trials, Sarah Hein was successful in lowering her career best time by 0.1 seconds in the 100 yard backstroke.

With two days left in the meet, DCST has had 5 swimmers earn National All-American status 9 times; has set 12 team records; and has 16 career best times out of 26 swims for a 62% improvement percentage.
