Moon and Hein Named National All-Americans for 3rd Straight Day at National Championships

        Caitlynn Moon and Daniel Hein remained perfect by achieving National All-American status in their third straight individual event of the meet on Day 3 of the YMCA National Championships in Greensboro, NC.  Caitlynn earned this honor by lowering her personal best time and previous team record by 2.9 seconds.  She placed 4th in this event.  Daniel placed 7th in the 200 yard Backstroke.  His time was 2 seconds faster than his previous best time, and he also set a new team record.

        Hein set two more team records on the day in relay events.  He started the day by joined Ryan Schultz, Dylan Powers and Jack Fergus to break the old record by 1 second in the 200 yard Medley Relay.  His morning ended with Powers, Fergus and Jacob Bjork lowering the 800 Freestyle Relay record by 1.6 seconds.  Daniel’s 200 yard Freestyle time leading off the relay was a new team record.  Thus, he set 4 new team records on the day.  The women’s relay team of Athena Ye, Jensen Keck, Sarah Fergus and Ashley Stark broke DCST’s previous team record in the 200 yard Medley by an impressive 2.5 seconds.

        Other highlights on the day included Jack Fergus going 3 seconds under his lifetime best time in the 200 yard Backstroke.  DCST was equally impressive in the Women’s 200 Backstroke with Kylie Olson (1 second time drop), Sarah Hein (0.5 second time drop) and Sarah Fergus (0.2 second time drop) going below their previous best times.  In the 100 yard Breaststroke, Ryan Schultz (0.6 seconds time drop) and Jensen Keck (0.02 seconds time drop) also excelled.  Jensen’s time was a new DCST Team Record.

        With one day left in the meet, DCST currently has achieved 26 personal best times out of 40 total swims for a 65% improvement rate.  The team has also set 22 new team records.
