Over the past weekend Colby Evans participated in the Mel Zajac International down at UBC. This meet is traditionally used as a prep meet for the summer season for the senior national team and other top swimmers around the country and the United States. Teams from Washington, Oregon and California were in attendance.
Nobody is rested, tapered or shaved for this meet, including Colby as we had a challenging practice on the Friday before. He struggled a bit on the Saturday getting up to speed but Sunday was much better. Our goal was to even split the middle 100 of the 200 fly, his main event, both in time and stroke count. Mission accomplished as he did that, performed his best long course time ever at 2:12.69 and set a new club record in the process. Overall he placed 18th at the senior level. Well done!
