DCST in First Place after Day 1 of National Championships

DCST in First Place after Day 1 of National Championships

Day 1 of the National Championships only consisted of one event, the 1500 Freestyle; but DCST used this one event to their advantage and took the early team combined scoring lead. DCST stands second in both the men and women’s scoring. In the men’s event, Grant Alef dropped 23 seconds from his previous personal best to finish 5th. David Gordon finished 10th with his personal best time improvement of 18 seconds. Both swimmers were well below the previous DCST Team Record.
On the women’s side, Emily Launer and Kate Taylor both broke the DCST’s team record in the Women’s 1500 Freestyle. With a 9 second time drop, Emily Launer earned 5th place. Kate Taylor’s impressive 17 second time drop was good for an 8th place finish. Alef, Gordon, Launer and Taylor all earned National All-American honors for their achievements.
