DCST Continues Reign over Geneva

DCST Continues Reign over Geneva

On Tuesday, June 10, DCST travel to Geneva for its first dual meet of the season.  After a few hours in a continuous rain in cool weather, the meet was stopped with only about 1/3 of the events being swum.  At that point, DCST had 144 – 113 point lead.

Due to the conditions, DCST didn’t swim particularly well.  As a team, there were 17 career best times out of a total of 62 swims for a 27% improvement rate.  The following swimmers had at least one best time despite the weather conditions:  Anthony Biundo, Nicholas Biundo, Robert Carpenter, Sam De La Cruz, Audra Ettelbrick, Maura Fisers, Millie Gidaszewski, Teo Graham, Catie Haub, Evan D Johnson, Evan M Johnson, Nick Johnson, Megan LeBlanc, Nicole Skrzypek, Rylan Smith, Kevin Sullivan and Mazie Sweers.

After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Catie Haub, age 10, and Sam De La Cruz, age 7, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
