Islander Results from Short Course Far Westerns

The 2014 Speedo Far Western Short Course Championship Swim Meet hosted by Mako Aquatics was held in Morgan Hill from April 3-April 6, 2014. This competition attracted elite age group swimmers from all over the world.  It is an accomplishment to be able to swim at Far Westerns, as the Far Western qualifying times are faster than Junior Olympic Qualifying times.


Islanders who qualified to swim this year were:

9-10 Girls:  Hannah Boles, Ella Hidalgo, Sophie Klube, and Grace Wasson.


9-10 Boys:  Kevin Habek


11-12 Girls:  Ashley Hendrawan


11-12 Boys:  Ian Ordinario


13-14 Boys:  Arron Clavin


15-16 Girls:  Catherine Boles, Maddy Delore, and Laura Fornshell


17-18 Girls:  Rebecca Krause


The following Islanders swam fast enough in the morning preliminary heats to place in the finals as follows:


10-Under Girls:

Hannah Boles - 6th in 100 Back, 1:09.54

Ella Hidalgo - 5th in 50 Back, 32.42

Sophie Klube - 7th in 50 Back, 32.64 (this after proving her mettle during a swim-off to make it into the Top 8)


11-12 Girls:  Ashley Hendrawan swam to a NEW ISLANDER RECORD in the 200 Fly, 2:26.05


15-16 Girls:

Catherine Boles-  4th in 100 Free, 51.80, 4th in 200 Free, 1:51.58*, 2nd in 500 Free, 4:58.71, 3rd in 1000 Free, 10:16.98*, 4th in 100 Back, 56.76*, 2nd in 200 Back, 2:04.25* (*= NEW ISLANDER RECORD)
