This past weekend, at Wesleyan University, WHAT Swimming attend the 2014 Connecticut Long Course Age Group Championships.
WHAT Swimming finished the competition in 5th place out of 52 teams. WHAT swimming was the highest placing team in the Hartford County area and was only surpassed by teams that had an average on 50 additional athletes in their programs.
WHAT Swimming compiled 117 lifetime best swims, 14 team records, 79 "Top 16" finishes and crowned 8 state champions.
WHAT swimmers achieving best times were: Michael Baldini, Kate Bell, Clara Capone, Haley Gens, Christina Guertin, Matthew Gwozdecke, Madison Hagberg, Samantha Hagberg, Kimberly Hylan, Nicole King, Taylor Lemus, Colton Litwinczyk, William Litwinczyk, Cassie Lowe-Choa-Lee, Brendan McClure, Nora Metcalfe, Ella Miller, Mikel Palaj, Charles Perks, Joseph Perks, Sydney Perks, John Rinald, Amber Rocheleau, Danielle Rocheleau, Jett Rosner, Harrison Saperstein, Nancy Scanlon, Tor Stumo, Aidan Surian and Benjamin Zamstein.
WHAT swimmers setting new team records were: Kate Bell (200 fly), Kimberly Hylan (400 free), Charles Perks (400 free), Mikel Palaj (200 I.M.), Tor Stumo (50 free, 100 free, 200 free) Matthew Gwozdecke (100 back, 100 fly, 200 I.M., 400 I.M.) John Rinald (200 breast), Brendan McClure ( 50 free) and William Litwinczyk (100 breast).
WHAT Swimming qualified 17 swimmers for the Connecticut Swimming Eastern Zone All-Star Team which will compete in Richmond, Virginia August 6th-9th.
