September 3, 2014
Next week we are fortunate to have the American Swimming Coaches Association’s “World Clinic” here in Jacksonville. More than 1,500 swimming coaches attend the ASCA World Clinic each September – it’s the largest swimming clinic in the world.
Coach Shawn Delifus was fortunate enough earlier this year to be chosen for ASCA’s “Fellows” program. The Fellows is a mentorship program aimed at developing future coach-leaders of our sport. The program is centered on the completion of a project done in the year between World Clinics, with the projects designed to advance the swimming body of knowledge. This work is guided/assisted by a mentor. As such, he has additional duties and events that require his attendance starting on Monday evening.
The clinic really gets rolling on Wednesday, and ends Saturday evening. Monday, Tuesday, and Sunday there are additional classes available for a well-rounded educational experience.
Please keep in mind that this clinic will directly benefit our Loggerhead swimmers. I have been to this clinic numerous times before (all around the U.S.) and I am psyched to have it in my hometown! Our coaching staff will be energized with all the new concepts and “tricks of the trade” that we will garner over the course of the week.
