Dear Manta Rays,
The season is off to a great start! The swimmers have taken to
the new dryland program and new groups nicely and are already
showing signs of improvement! We have a few items that we
wanted to update everyone on:
- Team Suits & Practice equipment: THEY ARE IN! The suits can be picked up tonight at practice or tomorrow before the meet.
- Team Bags & Warm-ups: These items have not come in yet from Kastaway, but should be in in the next couple of weeks
- Team T-shirts: Each swimmer will get three team t-shirst included with their registration. These are in the process of being ordered and should be in by the NKY Clipper meet in a couple of weeks.
- Team Caps: Each swimmer will also get a latex Manta
Ray cap with their registration. These have been ordered and
will be in by the NKY Clipper meet. If your swimmer wants a
silicone cap, they can purchase one from Coach Ken for $14.00 (cash
or Check to City of Mason).
- PERSONALIZED CAPS: We are working on getting this order together and will send out more information about how to order personalized team caps next week
- Manta Ray Spirit Wear: Spirit wear items/gear are in the final stages of being finalized. Information on how to order will be sent out soon!
- 12TH ANNUAL INTRASQUAD MEET & TEAM PICTURES TOMORROW
IMPORTANT NOTES Updated 10/10/14: The high school commons will be available for the meet this year. We will also have access to the lawn outside. Feel free to bring gear to sit outside!
Swimmers, who are 8 and under will swim 25 yards of each stroke and a 100-yard I.M. (THERE WILL BE A CLERK OF COURSE TO HELP THE 8&UNDERS GET TO WHERE THEY NEED TO BE), while the 9 and over swimmers will swim 50 yards of each stroke and a 100 I.M. If a swimmer is not ready for a particular event, they will not have to swim every event. We will also be offering a 500 freestyle for those who do not have an official time. Coaches will enter interested swimmers. Scoring will be divided by age groups: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-18. This fun meet is a chance for all swimmers and parents to experience how a USA Swimming meet is run in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere. The meet is a sanctioned USA Swimming meet; therefore, all times will count!
NEW PHOTOGRAPHER THIS YEAR:
Individual pictures will begin to be taken at 7:15 a.m. and the team picture will be at 8:15 a.m. in the pool area. PLEASE BE ON TIME FOR THE TEAM PICTURE. Individual pictures will be begin at 7:15 am and no appointment is necessary. More information about how to order pictures please fill out this form.
Warm-ups: 8:30-9:40 a.m. Meet start at or before 10:00 a.m. The meet should be over by 1:15 p.m. or 3:30 if doing the 500. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Ken, at 229-8555 ext 5515 or [email protected].
FIRST THING TOMORROW: When you enter the
competition pool, please do not sit in the center of the bleachers.
This is where the swimmers will be standing for the team photo.
Once the picture is taken, the entire bleacher area will be
available. Kids who want to be in the team picture should be in
their team suit or a suit as close to navy blue as possible as many
haven't received the new suit yet. We are still awaiting the
arrival of the caps. This meet is the only one we will not require
the swimmers to come see us before and after a race as a team.
However, your swimmers coach may try to encourage them to see them
to try and establish good habits.
A general reminder: during practices, parents are not permitted on the pool deck (USA Swimming rule). This includes sitting at the door at the end of practice. Parents are more than welcome to sit and watch practice in the bleachers. Also, during meets, only those parents who are volunteering to work the meet are permitted on the pool deck. Spectators should remain in the stands (USA Swimming rule). Violations of either rule put our club's membership with USA Swimming at risk. If you are asked to sit in the stands by a coach, lifeguard, or official, please do not take it personally.
We will be selling the heat sheet as well at the meet as well as posting it online (SEE LINK BELOW TO PRINT YOUR FREE HEAT SHEET). This is a great way to kick of the season and a great way to see the entire team in action.
Thank you to all who have volunteered for this first meet. Please check in at the volunteer table just off the pool deck on the other side of the double doors. If you missed the sign-up, we will have a lot of opportunities at our November meet. We will open only 1 spot per family for this meet intially to give everyone a fair shot of signing up!
