DCST Exterminates the River Rats

            The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) won its first dual meet of the season with a 412 – 298 point victory over the visiting Geneva River Rats on Tuesday, June 9.  As a team, DCST swam okay with 187 personal lifetime best times out of a total of a 401 swims for an improvement rate of 47%.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Giana Huffstutler, age 7, and Alex Taylor, age 12, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

            The following 55 swimmers had an excellent meet with at least two best individual times in the meet:   David Beaty, Jack Blaise, Chris Boyes, Timothy Braun, Acelin Bruhl, Lillian Bruhl, Riley Collins, Danny Cork, Sam De La Cruz, Mason DePauw, Mason Dukes, Quin Dukes, Ella Eklund, Abby Entas, Maura Fisers, Avery Gerdes, Adam Goelitz, Kaitlyn Goff, Alex Grados, Royce Grados, Matteo Graham, Mason Hafeman, Gwen Hall, Megan Hastings, Giana Huffstutler, Cece Johnson, Ella Johnson, Evan D Johnson, Haley Kuntzi, Mitchel Meares, Garret Mickey, Kayle Mickey, Grace Mielke, Mason Miller, Collin Moon, Rebecca Nenonen, Aiden Page, Colin Purcell, Julia Rasmussen, Kyle Rasmussen, Alex Schlueter, Domenic Schlueter, Lynnette Schlueter, Lane Schumacher, Jackson Singleton, Alexander Skrzypek, Rylan Smith, Jordan Spears, Alex Taylor, Cole Tegtman, Ritta Wi, Riley Wiegartz, Aleida Wilkins, Justin Wu and Miranda Zhang.

            DCST’s next meet will be on Tuesday, June 16th at Cary.
