Rats Scurry Past DCST

            The Kishwaukee YMCA / DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) lost the last dual meet of the season at Geneva by a score of 424- 283.  DCST finished the season with a 4 – 1 dual meet record.  As a team, DCST didn’t swim well with only 44 personal lifetime best times out of a total of a 170 swims for an improvement rate of 26%.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Allie Peterson, age 8, and David Beaty, age 11, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.

            The following 13 swimmers had an excellent meet with at least two best individual times in the meet:  Riley Collins, Bella De La Cruz, Nina De La Cruz, Mason Hafeman, Theo Heilman, Mitchel Meares, Allie Peterson, Edith Reynolds, Bradley Rutten, Alex Schlueter, Kevin Sullivan, Alex Taylor and Tyler Theis.

            DCST now moves into the championship part of its summer season.  The first meet of the championship season will be the NCISC “A” Conference Championship Meet on Saturday, July 18 hosted by DCST.  DCST will looking to win its 15th consecutive conference title.
