This is the MAC News for Thursday, January 29th. 

As of now, Hood College is operating normally and all practices will run as scheduled this evening.  If you have any doubt about whether practice will take place, please call the hotline (301-696-8588), check the website (, or check your e-mail.  Updates will not be posted before 3:30 and the e-mail is not always reliable.  Remember, if Hood College closes, practices will be cancelled. 

Don't forget, if you have not yet volunteered your services for the Robert J Hogan Mini meet this weekend, you must contact Helene Williams by noon TODAY at either dandhwilliams@aol.comor at 301-607-6475 to offer your help or you will be assessed the $75.00 fee.  In particular, we are in URGENT need of some with Meet Manager experience to run the Meet Manager computer on Sunday morning. 

For those of you who have already volunteered: 

Because of recent snow days, High School meets have been rescheduled for this weekend.  This includes the TJ at Brunswick meet which will now be held at 6PM at Frederick High School, and the Urbana-Middletown meet which will take place Saturday, at 11am at Middletown.
We are very aware this may cause logistical problems for those families having swimmers at these events. MAC is sensitive to this issue and we are requesting that if you need to change your volunteer assignment, it is up-to-you to find a replacement for the time-slot/responsibility to which you made a commitment.
We would prefer if volunteer assignments continue as planned, but understand that in some cases this will not be possible. Please do not assume others will be available to "pitch in" at the last moment. Our volunteer assignments have been closely coordinated and we need the entire MAC community to make the Hogan meet a success. Please notify the volunteer coordinator for the meet, Helene Williams, if you are going to “switch” with someone or let her know who will be taking your place if you cannot make it.
This is our primary fundraiser and is vital that our entire team help us to have the best possible meet from both the athletes attending and our financial perspective.

We are assuming (to be verified) that we will still have access to the high school cafeteria at 5:30 tomorrow evening.  If you volunteered your large cooler for the meet, you may either drop it off in the Frederick High cafeteria between 5:30-8:00 pm tomorrow or contact Terri Carder at to make other arrangements.  If you signed up to donate items, there are two options remaining for getting the items to the concession committee - you may drop them off to Jenny Beiter or Sheila Metz TODAY during Novice II practice (5:30-6:30 in the indoor pool) or you may drop them off at Frederick High between 5:30-8:00 tomorrow evening.  If neither of these options work for you, please contact Terri Carder at the e-mail address above. 

The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00 and Senior Prep and Masters from 8:00-9:00 all in the bubble.  All of the Novice groups will swim in the indoor pool - Novice I from 4:30-5:30, Novice II from 5:30-6:30, and Novice III from 6:30-7:30.  There is no practice today for Age Group I.  Seniors will have morning practice tomorrow from 5:15-6:30.
