This is the MAC News for Wednesday, January 7th.
The MAC Board will meet this evening at 6:30 pm at the law offices of Varner and Goundry in downtown Frederick. As always, everyone is welcome to attend. A copy of the agenda may be found here - www.macswim.net/files/MACBoardAgenda1709.doc.
As many of you have probably already heard, FCPS are considering a measure which would close all FCPS pools and eliminate swimming from the athletic program. Entries for the Robert J. Hogan Memorial Mini Meet ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/MAC_The_Robert_J__Hogan_Memorial_Mini_Meet.htm), January 31 - February 1, at Frederick High School, are due to the meet entry folder by 12:00 pm Saturday. Entries for the ASC Senior Invitational ( www.mdswim.org/Top_Nav/Meets/2008-2009_Schedule_Results/Annapolis_Swim_Club_Senior_Invitational_Meet.htm), February 7-8, at the Arundel Olympic Swim Center in Annapolis, are due by 12:00 pm Saturday, January 17th. As always, if you have any questions as to whether your child should attend either of these meets, please speak to your child's coach.
What follows is A LOT of information regarding the Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini meet that MAC hosts January 31 - February 1.
Sign-up sheets will be posted very soon for the volunteer positions for this meet. If you have a very specific need (i.e. you are only able to work a very specific session or position), please contact Helene Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) TODAY so she may sign you up before the list is posted. Remember, we need EVERYONE'S help with this meet. Those who do not fulfill the 2 session per family volunteer requirement will be assessed $75 on their next bill. Please, we really want your HELP not your money! It's lots of fun and a great way to meet members of the MAC family!
A sign-up sheet has been posted on the bulletin board outside the locker rooms in the bubble for concession donations. We will be accepting donations of food items OR cash donations to purchase items. If you have any questions regarding the concession stand, please contact Terri Carder at TCarder5867@aol.com.
The team is conducting a cover design contest for the meet program. All entries should be on 8 1/2 x 11 paper, in black and white, and should include the meet name (The Robert J Hogan Memorial Mini Meet), the date (January 31 - February 1), and the artist's name somewhere on the design. All entries are due to the REYNOLDS folder by January 15th.
Be on the lookout for information regarding advertising sales for the meet program. This information will be posted on the website and included in an upcoming edition of the MAC News.
We are looking a donation of promotional pens or highlighters to accompany our program sales. If you have a business or know someone who does that uses these items and would be willing to make a donation, please contact Deb Reynolds at email@example.com. It's a great way to get the business name around the community!
Finally, we are looking for several LARGE coolers to be used to hold drinks at our concession stand. If you have one you'd be willing to loan, please contact Terri Carder at TCarder5867@aol.com.
The practice schedule for today is as follows - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Age Group II from 6:00-8:00, and Age Group I from 6:00-7:45 all in the bubble. There is no practice today for Senior White, Senior Prep, Novice, and Masters.
