October 24, 2008
This is the MAC News for Friday, October 24th.
We are still experiencing some technical difficulties which are causing some families to receive the MAC News up to 5 hours after it is originally sent. Rest assured the problem is being worked! If you are in doubt about current news, each issue is posted to the website (see the right hand column underneath the Help Wanted section) immediately and is available by phone at 301-696-8588. Thanks for your continued patience!
The annual Novice Halloween party will be held next Thursday, October 30th from 5:30-6:30 in the indoor pool in place of practice. Don't forget, swimmers should wear their Halloween costume and bring the following: swimmers with last names beginning with A-J bring some type of snack (chips, dips, fruit, veggies, etc.), K-P bring a dessert, and Q-Z bring drinks. Please not bring any food or desserts containing nuts as several of the swimmers are allergic. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Ashley at email@example.com.
Just a quick reminder that there are some practice schedule changes for next Friday, October 31st, due to Halloween. There will be no afternoon practice for Age Groups I and II or Senior White. Senior Red and Black afternoon practice will end at 5:30. All Senior swimmers (including those in Senior White) are highly encouraged to attend morning practice that Friday (5:15-6:30 am) in addition to any scheduled afternoon practice.
Pools, Patios, and Porches is currently running a Bulk Buy MAC swim suit and apparel order. Remember, while these items are available all year, purchases made during the bulk buy are discounted an ADDITIONAL 10-20% above the normal MAC discount. You may place your order in person at the store or by phone, fax, or e-mail. All orders must be received by Saturday, November 1st. Don't forget to let Paul Gorgol (at Pools, Patios, and Porches) know if your swimmer will be needing a championship suit (FSII, FS Pro, or LZR) for the meets in December or Feb/March.
Remember, All RETURNING swimmers must complete the 2009 USA Swimming registration form and return it, along with a $65 check (made payable to MAC), to the Membership/Registration folder no later than Friday, November 7th. Current USA Swimming registrations expire at the end of December and swimmers will not be permitted to compete or attend practice unless their registration is current. Any questions should be directed to Ed Goundry at firstname.lastname@example.org. Swimmers new to MAC are already registered for 2009.
As members of MAC, each family is required to volunteer for at least 2 sessions of the meets we host. MAC cohosts a meet with the Green Terror Aquatic Club in Westminster, MD in December and is the sole host of a mini meet at the Frederick High School in February. These meets are a major source of income for our team. Volunteer obligations may be met at either of these meets or using a combination of the two. We are still looking for an Assistant Meet Director for the mini meet. This position is a great way to learn how a sanctioned Maryland swim meet is run and a great way to help young swimmers throughout Maryland. For more information about what is involved, please contact Fred Manning at email@example.com. Be on the lookout for more opportunities to volunteer as we get closer to the meets.
The practice schedule for today is normal - Senior Red and Black from 4:00-6:30, Senior White from 5:45-8:00, and Age Group II from 6:00-8:00 all in the bubble. Age Group I will be in the indoor pool from 4:30-6:15. There is no practice today for Senior Prep, Novice, or Masters. Saturday's practice schedule is also normal - Senior Red and Black from 7:00-9:00 am, Senior White and Age Group II from 9:00-10:30 am, and Novice from 10:30-11:30 am all in the bubble. Age Group I will swim in the indoor pool from 7:30-9:00. There will be morning practice on Monday from 5:15-6:30 am.
Have a great weekend!
