Final LC Nationals Recap - SVY finishes 6th Overall!

800 FR- although Ryan Waters swam his race in prelims, the final heat swam at night.  And after the race ended, Ryan's time beat four out of the eight finalists.  Combined with his finish in the early heat, he finished 8th overall.  Ryan qualified for Junior Nationals in his 800...that makes three Junior cuts for Ryan at this meet, congrats!

Girls 100 FR- Katrina Kuhn held her seed from the morning with a 7th place finish in her A final, holding off the girl in the lane next to her for the touch.  Holly Christensen moved up to 12th place in the B final, going out strong in the first 50 and holding off several girls in the final 5 meters.

Boys 100 FR- Brad Zdroik finishes 3rd overall in the A final, going what was a best time until he would break the time again leading off the 400 FR Relay.

Girls 200 IM- Megan Bull was trailing the field after backstroke, and came ROARING back in the second half of the race to touch 2nd in the B final and 10th overall.

Girls 50 BA- in Alex Temple's first scoring night swim at Y Nationals, she moves up a place and drops another .31 with a great touch to finish 3rd in the B final and 11th overall.

Girls 400 FR Relay- Hollie Hopf joins the relay team at night after a great individual swim in the 100 FR in the morning.  She teamed up with Holly Christensen, Alex Gebel, and Katrina Kuhn to finish 6th overall.

Boys 400 FR Relay- a few firsts for these boys with their splits.  Brad Zdroik leads the relay off with another lifetime best, breaking 52 seconds (51.92) and giving the relay a sizable lead.  Evan O'Mara breaks 55 seconds with his monster split (54.46), Danny Sanders follows suit with a sub-54 second split (53.96) and Sam Hendrix closes strong to secure a 4th place finish overall in a very tight race.

Team Scores- SVY finished 6th Overall in the combined team score, the highest New Jersey team finish yet again!!  The Men finish 6th as well, and the Women finish 7th.  It was an incredibly determined performance from our kids these past two days especially, moving up on seed in almost every single finals swim and with some of the most inspiring races we've had at SVY.
