After a stellar week at Junior Nationals, Maxime Rooney from the Pleasanton Seahawks blew minds at the 2015 Phillips 66 National Championships in San Antonio Texas, August 6-10th. Rooney represented the Seahawks with a legendary 200 Meter Freestyle swim, out touching the rest of the field and setting a new Junior World Record with a time of 1:47.10. This exceptional swim put him in the top 25 in the world and #3 in the nation, it also earned him a spot on the 2015 FINA World Championship team, which will take him to Singapore at the end of August. Rooney kept up the impressive performance throughout the rest of the National Championship. He dropped 1.08 sec in his 100 Meter Freestyle, coming in 10th overall with a 49.36 and he finished 20th in the 200 Meter Butterfly, after being seeded 41st at the onset of the meet. In addition to making the Junior World Team Rooney also made the Junior National Team and National Team. Congratulations to Maxime.
