A note from Coach Andy:

This is the MAC News for Tuesday, April 8th.

A note from Coach Andy: I'm pleased to announce that MAC has hired Chris Kaplan to work with the senior swimmers two days a week. Chris will be on deck with me to assist in implementing our conditioning program, assist with stroke work, and to act as another "set of eyes" to help improve our swim program. Chris is currently an assistant head coach at Hood College and recently led the NBAC York team. Many of you know Chris from his previous MAC coaching work. Welcome back Chris!

On Saturday, May 31st MAC will be hosting a biathlon fund-raiser to raise awareness for cancer and to help support Kathy Rossick's fight against the disease.  Kathy is mom to current MAC senior swimmers, Katelyn and Chelsea and to former MAC swimmer, George (now a student and swimmer at MIT).  Kathy's husband, George, is an active member of the MAC board.  Attached to this e-mail is a copy of an information sheet and registration form for the event.  All entries, along with the $30 registration fee, are due to Coach Lauren's folder by May 15th.  The event is open to all MAC and Hood Hammerhead families, including parents and former swimmers!  Other ways to help are detailed on the information sheet.

The meet notice for the NAAC Carol Chidester Memorial Long Course meet( to be held April 25-27 at the Naval Academy has been posted.  All entries, along with a check to cover the fees ($5.00/event, up to 4 events per day, plus the $3.00 service charge), are due to the meet entry folder by 6:00 pm TOMORROW.  This meet is open to swimmers with at least 2 "A" times (10&under swimmers have modified "A/BB" qualifying times listed in the meet notice).  As always, if you have any questions as to whether your child should attend this meet, please speak to your child's coach.

Everyone should have received an invitation to the annual MAC banquet in their folder this past weekend.  The banquet will be held on Sunday, May 4th beginning at 5:30 pm at Dutch's Daughter.  Tickets are $20.00 each (children under 3 are free).  Your RSVP slip, along with payment, is due to the Banquet folder by Monday, April 21st.  Please be aware that space is limited so get your RSVPs in ASAP.  The banquet is a great time as we recap our season, honor our swimmers and coaches, and roast our Seniors.  Everyone is encouraged to attend.

Terri Bush will creating a slide show of general team pictures to be shown at the banquet.  Anyone wishing to contribute photos may e-mail them to Terri at Territbush@aol.comor leave a disc of pictures in the Bush folder by Sunday, April 20th.

There will also be a Senior specific slide show at the banquet.  Joanna Yeh ( is the contact for these pictures.  The Senior Red and Black groups are working together to create this show.  They would prefer digital pictures but are able to scan the old fashioned ones.  If you have any pictures of the following swimmers from any time in their MAC careers, the group would greatly appreciate copies - Laurel Brabson, Jamie Hyrkas, Josh Kim, Katie Serfling, Julie Thackston, and Asaph Yeh.
