DCST Improves to 6-0 on the Season

DCST moved to 6 – 0 on the season with wins over Rockford, Dixon and Freeport. As a team, DCST had 154 new career best individual swims. Moreover, DCST had 61 swims which were a swimmer’s first time achieving a particular time standard this season. The breakdown of the time standards achieved was: 43 new District qualifying times, 16 new Area qualifying times, and 2 new National qualifying times.
DCST had 50 swimmers with at least two personal best times.  These swimmers were:  Ty Ament, Dillon Anderson, Maxwell Buck, Kelsey Campbell, Melissa Cherry, Amanda Cook, Emily Cook, Haley Copen, Grace Fergus, Nolan Fergus, Shane Fergus, Erin Fidler, Stephen Flaherty, Madisyn Grever, Madeline Hockey, Brianna Jacobson, Kaitlin Jacobson, Grace Kozlowski, Kayleigh Kozlowski, Alison Kramer, Brianna Kramer, Katrina LeMieux, Amanda Lewis, Kyra Lindgren, Caroline Mackey, Holden Mackey, Spencer Mackey, Meagan Maish, Cole Moon, Abby Pardridge, Dylan Powers, Lucy Prais-Lewis, Emily Raetzke, Dylan Rasmussen, Elissa Roose, David Ruetten, Paul Ruetten, Celena Slowick, Josh Smith, Grace Stiberth, Lauryn Stoffregen, Libby Swedberg, Amal Tatum, Chad Thompson, Mark Wanner, Jenni Weber, Jordan Weber, Chloe Wester, Athena Ye, and Danielle Zographos.
After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Kaitlin Jacobson, age 9, and Amal Tatum, age 13, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
DCST’s next full team meet is our Barb Wire Invitational on Saturday, December 12.  Everyone is highly encouraged to attend this event.  For our rookies, this will be their first chance at swimming in an invitational.  With a 4 week break between meets, the DCST Coaching Staff is expecting many big time drops at this meet.  Swimmers who have yet to swim a legal breaststroke or butterfly swim in a meet are highly encouraged to use this time period to make their strokes legal in these events.  The coaching staff would like to have as many of these swimmers swim their first legal swims in these events at the Barb Wire.
