FINA Junior World Championships

Pleasanton Seahawks athlete Maxime Rooney had an outstanding performance at the 2015 FINA Junior World Championships August 25-30. His phenomenal swims at the National Championships in early August earned him his spot on the Junior Worlds team, and a plane ticket to Singapore for the competition. While there, Maxime won gold in the 200 free, with his stellar time of 1:47.78; silver in the 100 freestyle with a 48.87, and three additional medals in relays for Team USA. The Mens 4x200 freestyle relay won gold, Maxime leading the field with his 1:46.55 split, which propelled the relay to set a new Junior World record with a time of 7:13.36. Additionally, he swam on the 4x100 freestyle and 4x100 medley relay, finishing with silver in both for Team USA.  In the end,  Team USA won the Junior World Trophy by scoring the highest amount of points overall.  Maxime’s amazing performance at Junior Worlds earned him a spot on the 2015-2016 National Team, which consists of 107 swimmers across the U.S.
