The annual Pacific Swimming Awards Banquet took place on Saturday, October 10th, at the Embassy Suites in Milpitas. Swimmers and coaches from throughout the LSC joined to enjoy dinner, awards and Olympic Swimmer Natalie Coughlin as Guest Speaker. Pacific Swimming is the third largest of USA Swimming's 59 regional associations, it is made up of 120 swim clubs and more than 16,000 swimmers.
Pleasanton Seahawk Coach Steve Morsilli was awarded Senior Group Coach of the Year. The following Seahawk swimmers received awards and nominations: Miranda Heckman received the Outstanding Short Course award for 13 year old female swimmer, Miranda was also nominated for Race of the Year for her 1000 free (10:02.06) and Swimmer of the Year for her 3 Pacific Swimming Records, 8 National Top-10 Rankings, 3 Far Western Individual Championships and a Far Western Record 13-14 Girls 1000y Free. LLeyton Plattel (13) was nominated for Race of the Year with his 1500m freestyle (17:26.56). Christopher Jhong received the Outstanding Short Course award for 14 year old male swimmer. Moriah Simonds received the Outstanding Short Course award for 16 year old Female Swimmer and was nominated for Race of the Year for her 1000 free (9:37.35) she swam at Winter Sectionals breaking the Pacific Record. Maxime Rooney received the Outstanding Short Course/ Long Course award for 16/17 Male Swimmer, Race of the Year for his 200m freestyle (1:47.10) he swam at US Nationals which placed him 3rd in the Nation, and Swimmer of the Year for his National Champion 200 freestyle at Summer Nationals, youngest member of the men’s USA National Team 2015/2016, World Junior Gold Medalist 200 free, 4x200 free relay, FINA World Junior Records 200 free, 4x200 free relay, Summer Junior National Champion 100 free, 200 free, and NCS Champion 200 free, 500 free. Congratulations to these amazing athletes.
