Hollyburn Development Meet Review
We had an incredible 27 swimmers compete at our Development Meet on Sunday! Last year the most swimmers we had in attendance at any PASS/Development Meet was 19 so that is a great start!
Hurricanes swimmers raced to 72 new best times out of their 79 total events!
Congratulations to Sammy Cowley, Claire DeCoteau, Addison Groenewold, Jonathan Han, Hana Horsman, Merhan Mansour and Kiersa Shariff who all raced in their first swim meet! Many swimmers raced in 50m events for the first time! Great work to Roya Hakimzadeh, Talia Ott, Erika Panahandeh and Tyler Winsborrow who all raced their initial 100m Individual Medley. Meghan Haigh, Emily Jones, Evan Kelly and Tiger Li completed their first 200m Individual Medley!
We had a number of big drops in time at the meet, here are a few of the highlights. Kayla Hakimzadeh and Allison Lavis both took off 10 seconds in the 25m Freestyle! Tiger Li dropped 8 seconds in the 50m Freestyle and 7 seconds in the 50m Breaststroke! Alayna Michieli knocked off 14 seconds in her 200m Individual Medley! James Reid swam to a best time by 16 seconds in the 50m Backstroke! Thomas Reid was 10 seconds better in his 100m Individual Medley! Tyler Winsborrow took off 10 seconds in his 50m Freestyle and 8 seconds in his 50m Breaststroke! Our biggest drop in time went to Pasley Travers with her 24 second improvement in her 200m Individual Medley!
A number of swimmers are also getting closer to qualifying for LMR (Lower Mainland Region) Swim Meets. To qualify swimmers must break 4:00 in the 200m Individual Medley. Pasley Travers is now just 10 seconds off, Keala Haigh is just 8 seconds away and Alayna Michieli is only 4 seconds over!
A big thank you to the volunteer swimmers who helped run the meet in marshalling! Thanks to Jade, Sidney, Josh, Shona and Avery!
The next meet for our swimmers in Dream will be the VPSC 10&under Meet at Watermania December 6th! Swimmers in Discover will continue training to compete at Development and PASS meets in January and February!
