DCST Dunk the Dolphins

        On October 17, DCST began its 2015 – 2016 winter season with a win over the visiting Illinois Valley (Peru, IL) Dolphins by a score of 520 - 232.  As a team, DCST swam pretty well for the first full team meet of the season with 178 career best times out of a total of 349 swims for a 51% improvement rate.

            Forty-eight swimmers had a great meet with at least two career best times. These swimmers were:  Asa Andrews, David Beaty, Jack Blaise, Cumorah Bound, Miles Bound, Riley Collins, Sophie Cork, Jeena Crones, Maddie Danley, Riley Doyle, Mason Dukes, Ava Farrell, Jack Farrell, Ella Follman, Cara Forsberg, Evan Gard, Evan Harrelson, Georgia Harrelson, Sean Harrelson, Janae Heegaard, Theo Heilman, Cydney Henson, Giana Huffstutler, Evan M Johnson, Ava Karolewicz, Michaela McMahon, Mason Miller, Trey Morrison, Nate Newlin, Ali Ohlinger, Julia Rasmussen, Kyle Rasmussen, Benjamin Russell, Domenic Schlueter, Sam Schwartz, Jackson Singleton, Nicole Skrzypek, Jordan Spears, Hagen Stewart, Andrew Tatum, Reagan Vander Bleek, Natalie Wagner, Emma Westhoff, Maggie Westhoff, Olivia Woodruff, Andrew Wu, Justin Wu and Miranda Zhang.

            After each meet, the coaching staff picks two swimmers, one girl and one boy, as the “Big Dogs" of the meet. Big Dogs are not only selected on their performance in the meet, but the coaches also take into consideration the swimmer’s practice attendance, work ethic, team spirit and sportsmanship. For this meet, Ali Ohlinger, age 8, and Benjamin Russell, age 11, were selected as Big Dogs of the meet.
